Ansley Scott Earns First Collegiate Win At Kansas State

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Ansley Scott won the 60-meter dash to highlight Central Oklahoma's appearance in the Steve Miller Invitational Friday at Kansas State.

Scott raced to a first-place finish in the first heat of two. She crossed the finish line in 7.76 seconds and that mark held through the day for the best time. It was the only sub-eight second time of the meet. The time equals the freshman's season best she set in the first race of her career in December.

Central's newcomer, who competed at Moore High during her prep days, earned her first collegiate victory Friday. She finished second in the 400 earlier this month and now has five top-five marks.

Jasmine Hopkins also finished fifth (8.28 seconds) in the 60 meters. She took third in the 200 meters, racing to a 27.25 second time. Jacie Edwards (28.73) and Lydia Lawrence (29.45) finished 10th and 12th respectively in the 200.

Central's distance crew started with the 800 meters. Arizona Hummingbird finished fifth (2:29.24), Bethany Garrison finished sixth (2:34.73), Shiloh Hutchinson took eighth (2:40.25) and Katie McCathern finished ninth (2:43.35). Hutchinson also finished fourth in the one-mile race, registering a 5:50.09.

Dahsauni Lyday led the UCO throwers in the shot put. She finished sixth with an even 13.00 meters. Eve Brennan (11.16m) finished 11th and Tatum Robertson (10.85m) finished 12th.

Two-thirds of that trio also competed in the weight throw. Lyday took seventh (14.71m) and Robertson scored a ninth-place finish (12.67m).
