Central Oklahoma Remains Third In ITA Top 25

TEMPE, Ariz. – The ITA announced its second Top 25 of the 2022 season Thursday and the University of Central Oklahoma women's tennis team remained No. 3 in the country.

Central Oklahoma is 2-0 on the season with wins over UT-Tyler and Dallas Baptist. The Bronchos are scheduled to play No. 22 Midwestern State this Saturday at Oak Tree in Edmond.

Central has conceded only one point in two matches this season. The Bronchos won 6-1 against UT Tyler before sweeping Dallas Baptist, who is receiving votes in the national polls, 7-0.

The Bronchos are led by a herd of nationally-ranked individuals. Mae Canete and Christine Canete are ranked No. 1 in the country in the ITA's most recent Doubles Top 25. Adel-Byanu Abidullina and Nikki Boyar are ranked No. 21 in the that poll.

Mae is ranked No. 2 in the ITA's most recent Singles Top 50. Christine is No. 4, Abidullina No. 5, and Grace Chadick is ranked No. 21 in the country in that poll.

UCO is scheduled to host Midwestern State on Saturday. The Bronchos will also host Tyler Junior College on Sunday.

Central Oklahoma is hosting the 2022 ITA Indoor National Championships at Edmond Center Court next weekend. The three-day, eight-team tournament is in its third year and each edition of the national tournament has been hosted by UCO. The Bronchos finished seventh in 2020 before taking third in 2021.
