National Preview Up This Week For Central

UCO Competing In Stacked Field at Championship Site

EUREKA, Mo. – Central Oklahoma wraps up a non-stop four-week stretch Monday when the Bronchos compete in the first two of three rounds at Fox Run Golf Club for the University of Missouri – St. Louis' National Preview.

Fox Run is hosting the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships in May 2023. UCO is one of 16 squads competing.

"It's a tough field a great course," UCO head women's golf coach Michael Bond said. "We're going to have to be focused and play well. It's a great opportunity."

UCO will tee off at 8 a.m. Monday in the first round. Teams will play through a second round Monday afternoon. Another 8 a.m. tee time is scheduled for Tuesday's third and final round. The shotgun start will send the Bronchos around the 6,226-yard par-72 course.

Madison O'Dell and Jirasuda Khunarak will both start on 10 in separate groups. Emma Shelley will start on 11, and Arin Zachary and Mika Ramos will tee off from No. 12 in separate groups.

Khunarak leads Central Oklahoma after three tournaments with a 76.8 scoring average. The junior from Thailand finished sixth and fifth in her last two tournaments after a scorecard error disqualified her from her Broncho debut four weeks ago.

O'Dell, a fifth-year senior from Owasso, is averaging a 78.0 after three tournaments. She also finished fifth last week in Edmond. O'Dell has rounds of 2-over twice and another 3-over.

Shelley, a fourth-year junior, is tied with O'Dell on the scoring average mark at 78.0 through three tournaments. She has finished in the Top 20 in the last two.

Zachary did not compete in the season-opening Dallas Baptist Classic, but has played in and finished in the Top 30 in each of the last two tourneys. Zachary posts an 80.5 scoring average.

Ramos, sneaking in front of Zachary with a 79.5 scoring average, has Central's low round of the year. She shot a 1-under 71 in the first round of the DBU Classic.

Central Oklahoma opened the 2022-23 season with four tournaments in four weeks. The Bronchos will take next week off before wrapping up the Fall schedule with The Tulsa Cup in Broken Arrow Oct. 24-25.
