Eight Bronchos Earn Soccer Awards

Central Oklahoma Has Most of Starting Lineup Honored by MIAA

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma soccer received a handful of All-MIAA honors, the league announced Wednesday.

Amaya Grace and Monika McGee earned Second Team All-MIAA, Caroline Faulkner, Kylee Wickersham, Eden Jones and Madison Linavong all earned Third Team All-MIAA, and Kassidy Collins and Avery Holland both earned Honorable Mention All-MIAA.

"We're proud of all of the girls that are being recognized for their hard work and their accomplishments," UCO head women's soccer coach Mike Cook said. "They've put in a lot of work since August and it is always good to see them honored for that."

Grace led Central Oklahoma's offense this season, scoring a team-high eight goals and adding four assists. She had five game-winning goals for the Bronchos. Grace, a junior forward from Little Elm, Texas, ranked fifth in the MIAA in goals scored, seventh in the league in assists, sixth in total points (20), and second in the MIAA in game-winning goals. She also ranked ninth in both shots (47) and shots on goal (23).

McGee, who is a two-time All-MIAA selection after earning First Team honors last season, scored four goals and added one assist this season. She had three game winners. McGee, a junior midfielder from Moore, Oklahoma, ranked fifth in the MIAA in game-winning goals.

Faulkner was Central's top goalkeeper in 2022, staring in 12 of 18 games for the Bronchos. She played over 1,000 minutes in goal and allowed only 10 goals for a 0.89 goals against average. Faulkner made 58 saves and posted a 6-2-4 record with three shutouts. The sophomore keeper from Tulsa ranked fourth in the MIAA in goals against average and third in the league in saves.

Wickersham anchored the Central defense in front of Faulkner, playing a team-high 1,582 minutes this season. In 18 games, she played all but 38 minutes this season, spending an impressive 97.6 percent of the season the field. Wickersham, a sophomore from Mustang, Oklahoma, also scored one goal.

Jones, a junior from San Antonio, was a strong midfield presence for the Bronchos and added three goals on the season, including one game winner.

Linavong, also a midfielder, led the team with nine assists this season. That mark was the second highest in the MIAA this season. Linavong, who is a sophomore from Allen, Texas, was also second in goals scored for UCO with five. She added one game-winning goal this season.

Collins, a sophomore from Owasso, Oklahoma, and Holland, a junior from Moore, Oklahoma, both joined Wickersham on the back line and were key in Central's stout defense. The Bronchos allowed less than one goal per game this season (0.89) and posted six shutouts. Collins was a Second Team All-MIAA selection last season.

Central Oklahoma is prepping for the 2022 MIAA Women's Soccer Championship. The Bronchos earned the No. 5 seed in the eight-team tournament and will play at Fort Hays State on Sunday night in the quarterfinals.
