Central Ninth at National Preview

EUREKA, Mo. – Central Oklahoma is ninth in the team standings after two rounds at Fox Run Golf Club Monday at the Division II National Preview.

Central Oklahoma posted a first-round score of 315 and was seventh after 18 holes. The teams played through the second round, where UCO posted another 315 for a 36-hole 630.

Dallas Baptist leads the team standings (294-300 – 594).

"It's a challenging course and a challenging field of teams," UCO head women's golf coach Michael Bond said. "We played good in some spurts and need to clean a few things up before tomorrow's final round."

The third and final round begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Jirasuda Khunarak led the Bronchos through 36 holes and is 10-over-par at 154. She was 6-over after her first 18 holes. She started on 10 and played the back nine 4-over-par. After bogeying each of the first three holes on the front nine, the junior played her last six holes 1-under thanks to birdies on 6 & 7.

Back on 10 for the second round, Khunarak started with back-to-back bogeys before sinking two birdies on 12 & 13. She closed out the back nine with another birdie on 18 and was 4-over heading to the first tee box. Khunarak played a strong front nine in round two, sinking three more birdies to go with four pars. She was even after 9 to stay at 4-over for the round and 10-over heading into Tuesday.

Emma Shelley shot 9-over-par in her first round, sinking 13 pars. She started on 11 and in the second round, was even-par heading to the first tee box. Shelley played the front nine 6-over in Round 2, but finished with a birdie on 10 to come back to 5-over for the round and 14-over-par heading into Tuesday.

Mika Ramos led the Bronchos in the first round, posting a 3-over 75. The sophomore was 4-over on the back nine after starting at No. 12, but made a big surge on the front nine. Ramos birdied 4 & 9 and sank six pars to finish the front 1-under. She hit another birdie on 10 before bogeying 11 to finish the first 18 3-over-par.

Ramos posted a 12-over 84 in the second round, which included two birdies and six pars, to settle in at 15-over 159 heading into Tuesday.

Madison O'Dell also shot a 9-over 81 in her first round to tie Shelley. O'Dell hit 12 pars and one birdie. In the second round, O'Dell played the back nine 5-over before putting together a solid 3-over on the front nine. O'Dell had nine pars and one birdie in the second round and is 17-over-par at 161 heading into Tuesday.

Arin Zachary is Central's fifth. She posted a 14-over 86 in the first round, that included 10 pars. She posted eight pars and one birdie in the second round, playing half of that 18 even-par. Zachary ended Round 2 10-over and is 24-over-par at 168 heading into Tuesday.
