Bronchos Ready For Pitt State Invitational

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The University of Central Oklahoma track & field team is set to take part in the Pittsburg State Invitational Saturday. The first event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

Central Oklahoma is sending 15 student-athletes to the event.

Dahsauni Lyday is one of them and she is looking to build off a big performance last week in Norman. At the J.D. Martin Invitational at OU, Lyday threw 13.71 meters in the shot put. That was enough for an NCAA provisional qualifier. It was tied for the 22nd-best throw of the season in the country.

Eve Brennan and Tatum Robertson will both join Lyday in throwing both the shot put and the weight throw on Saturday.

Bethany Garrison, Shiloh Hutchinson and Arizona Hummingbird will all run the one-mile race. Hutchinson will also run the 3,000-meters and Harlie Hanson will join the distance group for the 5,000-meter race. Garrison is also running in the 800 meters.

Jordan Chancellor and Cali Dorman are both set to race in the 600-yard event. Jacie Edwards, Lydia Lawrence, Jasmine Hopkins, and Ansley Scott are each scheduled to race in the 400 meters.

Edwards and Dorman are both scheduled to compete in the 200-meter race as well. Joining them will be Kaleigh Dyas, Hopkins, Scott, Elisabeth Stanfield and Lawrence.

Dyas is the only Broncho scheduled for the 60-meter sprint while Stanfield and Dorman are both scheduled to compete in the 60-meter hurdles.

Luz Lugo-Ponce will compete in the pole vault. Chancellor will also compete in the long jump and triple jump events.

Central Oklahoma is competing for the third consecutive weekend and will do the same for each of the next three as the 2021-22 Indoor season moves along. The 2022 MIAA Indoor Championships are scheduled for the last weekend in February in Maryville, Mo. The 2022 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships are scheduled for Pittsburg, Kan. in March.
