UCO Competes In J.D. Martin Invitational

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Central Oklahoma track & field team competed at the J.D. Martin Invitational Saturday at the University of Oklahoma.

Central Oklahoma's 4x400 relay team produced the best finish of the day for the Bronchos. Cali Dorman, Jordan Chancellor, Bethany Garrison and Jacie Edwards teamed up for a 4:25.29 effort in the 4x400-meter race and the squad finished third.

Chancellor also had a top-five finish earlier in the day Saturday. The true freshman from Verdigris leaped her way to a fourth-place finish in the long jump. She hit 4.96 meters, or 16 feet, 3 1/4 inches, on her second of three jumps.

Central Oklahoma had several other top-10 finishes during the meet.

Dahsauni Lyday finished sixth to lead a trio of Bronchos in the weight throw. She threw 13.54 meters. Lyday also finished seventh in the shot put, leading that same trio. Her toss in the shot put, 13.71 meters or 44 feet, 11 3/4 inches, was good enough for seventh place in the meet Saturday, but it also cleared the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark of 13.70 meters.

Cali Dorman finished eighth in the 400 (1:02.67) and Bethany Garrison finished in the same spot in the 800 (2:35.09). Ansley Scott also finished ninth in the 60 meters, just missing the top eight that moved on to the finals. She crossed the finish line in 7.82 seconds.

Saturday marked the second of seven consecutive weekends with a track meet for the Bronchos. Central Oklahoma is scheduled to head toward southeast Kansas for the Pittsburg State Invitational next Saturday.
