UCO Returns To Indoor Schedule

TOPEKA, Kan. – The University of Central Oklahoma track & field team resumed its Indoor season Saturday at Washburn's MIAA Rust Buster as teams returned to the scheduled following winter break. UCO only sent a portion of its lineup as teams around the country continue to navigate health & safety protocols.

A quartet of distance runners did make the trip. Arizona Hummingbird led four Bronchos in the 1-Mile race. She finished 12th with a time of 5:25.56. Shiloh Hutchinson also logged a top-20 finish. She crossed the line 18th in 5:53.65.

Katie McCathern also finished 26th with a time of 6:02.73 and Bethany Garrison was virtually on her heels at 6:02.89 for a 27th-place finish.

Those four also ran the 3,000-meter race later Saturday, and fellow distance runner Harlie Hanson joined the group and led the group.

Hanson finished fifth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:47.39. Hummingbird made it two top-20s on the day with an 11:05.02 13th-place finish. Hutchinson almost got a second top 20. She finished 22nd with a time of 11:47.83.

Garrison (11:54.40) and McCathern (12:02.78) finished 25th and 26th respectively.

Luz Lugo-Ponce was the only field athlete to compete Saturday. She did not score in the pole vault.

Central Oklahoma looks to have bigger squad back next week for the J.D. Martin Invitational in Norman.
