Track & Field Returns To Action

TOPEKA, Kan. – The University of Central Oklahoma track & field team will make its return to action Saturday at Washburn's MIAA Rust Buster.

Central Oklahoma is only sending a partial squad that includes field event student-athletes and distance runners.

Veteran Arizona Hummingbird will compete in both the 1-Mile run and the 3,000-meter race. Harlie Hanson, who owns Central's 5,000-meter race record, will compete in the 3,000 alongside Hummingbird.

Bethany Garrison, Shiloh Hutchinson and Katie McCathern will join Hummingbird in both races as well.

Luz Lugo-Ponce will make her return to action in the pole vault Saturday. Tatum Robertson will also throw in both the shot put and the weight throw.

Central Oklahoma was picked 11th in the MIAA Preseason Indoor Track & Field Coaches' Poll, the league announced Friday. The Bronchos have already competed once this winter, that coming back in December at Pittsburg State. UCO looks to return to full force next week at the J.D. Martin Invitational at Oklahoma in Norman.
