Griffith Leads Bronchos At NSU Classic

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (Sept. 20) – Evan Griffith put himself among the individual leaders to pace Central Oklahoma in opening-day play at the 23rd Annual NSU Golf Classic Monday.

The Bronchos shot rounds of 285-289 and have a 574 total after two trips around the 6,729-yard, par-71 Muskogee Golf Club. Arkansas Tech leads the 18-team field at 549, followed by Central Missouri (554) and Southern Arkansas (562).

Griffith was at four-under-par 138 following rounds of 71-67, leaving him sixth in the medalist standings. The sophomore standout made five birdies and an eagle against three bogeys in his four-under-par afternoon round.

UCO also got consecutive even-par rounds of 71 from Caleb Kimmel, while Bennett Baldwin shot 71-76, Liam Coughlin 72-75 and Kyle Hickey 72-76.

Final-round play begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
