UCO Heads To NSU Tourney

The Central Oklahoma men's golf team returns to action this week when the Bronchos go to Muskogee for the 23rd Annual NSU Golf Classic.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament tees off at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Muskogee Golf Club. Joining UCO in the 18-team field will be host Northeastern State, Winona State, Bemidji State, Sioux Falls, Arkansas Tech, Central Missouri, Southwestern Oklahoma, Washburn, Henderson State, Rogers State, Missouri Western, Southern Arkansas, Harding, Southeastern Oklahoma, Missouri Southern, Southern Nazarene and Northwestern Oklahoma.

Central opened its five-tournament fall schedule last week with a 10th-place finish in the Washburn Invitational.

"We didn't play as well as we're capable of last week and our guys are ready to get back at it," first-year head coach Derrick Thompson said. "It's a tough tournament with a lot of good teams and we're eager to see what we can do."

Making up UCO's five-man team will be junior Kyle Hickey, sophomores Evan Griffith and Caleb Kimmel and freshmen Bennett Baldwin and Liam Coughlin.

Griffith, Kimmel and Baldwin all played in last week's season-opening tournament. Griffith led the way with a 13th-place finish.
