MIAA Honors Baseball With Academic Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team had more than a dozen student-athletes recognized Tuesday by the MIAA, when the league announced its postseason academic awards.

Central Oklahoma had 16 student-athletes named to the MIAA Baseball Honor Roll. Those individuals must have a cumulative 3.0 grade point average and have been at their respective institution for at least two semesters. Newcomers will be recognized this summer.
 
Luke Anderson, Jacob Bailey, Mason Carrier, Zach Moore, Kyler Patterson, Colton Croft, Philip Scott, Bennett Laurence, Owen Logan, Chase Freeman, Carson Green, Ryan Harrel, Brett Hopkins, Kaden Marshall, Joe Mondragon, and Garrett Takamatsu all made the list.
 
In addition to the MIAA Honor Roll, Scott and Takamatsu were also named MIAA Scholar Athletes. That award is given to those individuals with at least a 3.5 GPA and who also earned All-MIAA honors on the field as well. Scott earned All-MIAA Honorable Mention this season and Takamatsu was listed on the Third Team All-MIAA.
 
The MIAA adds its Academic Excellence Award to its list of postseason academic honors and Harrel was Central's representation on that list. The Academic Excellence Award is given to any student-athlete with a 4.0 GPA that has been at the school for at least two semesters. Harrel, a senior outfielder, was named Class Marshal at Central, representing the College of Education and Professional Studies.
