UCO Continues Regional Trek

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The University of Central Oklahoma women's golf team continued its NCAA Central Regional trek Tuesday with the second round of the championships at St. Joseph Country Club.

The Bronchos carded a 317 in Round 2, three shots lower than their 320 Monday in the first round. Final round play begins Wednesday morning. The top three teams in the regional qualify for nationals in two weeks in Detroit, Michigan. The top three individuals not on an advancing team will also qualify for nationals.

Rogers State leads the nine-team field with a 36-hole 615. Henderson State is three back in second with a 618 and Arkansas Tech is equally back in third at 621.

Madison O'Dell led Central in the second round with a 5-over 77. O'Dell is at 159 through 36 holes.

She was one shot better than Emma Shelley, who posted a 6-over 78. Shelley leads all UCO golfers after 36 holes with an 8-over 152. That mark is tied for third on the individual leaderboard. Shelley's seven birdies in 36 holes are third among all golfers in the regional.

Susana Olivares is in 20th place individually. After a 6-over 78 Monday, she posted an 8-over 80 on Tuesday to land at 158 through 36 holes.

Emily Miller (86-82) and Sydney Roberts (89-83) are also competing for the Bronchos this week in St. Joseph.
