Bronchos Fourth in Conference Tourney

MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. (April 19) – Peyton Knell had steady rounds of 73-74 to pace Central Oklahoma in first-day play at the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Men's Golf Championships Monday.

The Bronchos shot 296-304 for a 600 total after two trips around the 7,188-yard, par-72 Shangri-La Golf Resort, leaving them in fourth place heading into Tuesday's final round.

Central Missouri leads the 10-team event at 579, followed by Washburn (587), Rogers State (595), UCO and Missouri Western (602).

Knell is tied for eighth in the individual standings with a three-over-par 147 total, while Evan Griffith is at 151 after shooting 72-79. Ethan Galvan (78-76) and Parker Rose (79-75) are at 154 and Caleb Kimmel is at 157 (73-84).

Knell carded 13 pars, three bogeys and two birdies in the morning round to finish at one-over 73. The senior was one-over in the afternoon round after a birdie on his 14th hole before making two bogeys down the stretch to come in with a 74.

Rose overcame an third-hole triple bogey in the second round to play his last 15 holes at even par in finishing with a 75.
