Central Downed At NSU

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - The University of Central Oklahoma soccer team lost 3-2 to Northeastern State Sunday in the final regular season game of the 2021 spring schedule.

UCO is now 6-4-1 in the spring season and will turn its attention to the MIAA Spring Soccer Tournament next weekend. The league split into divisions for this spring venture and Central finished second in the Southeast Division. The Bronchos will play top-seeded Northwest Division leader Emporia State Thursday at ESU. Kickoff time will be announced soon. 

Sunday, Northeastern State scored first and did so in just the second minute, but UCO equalized with a goal from Eden Jones in the 18th minute. The match stayed 1-1 till halftime. 

NSU got a quick second half goal too, taking a 2-1 lead in the 48th minute, but again Central found the equalizer. Kaylee Collins netted her second goal of the spring in the 54th minute to tie the game 2-2. Northeastern scored what would be the game-winning goal in the 66th minute to go ahead, 3-2. 

Kaitlyn Asher played all 90 minutes in goal and made three saves.
