Central First After Day One At KickingBird

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma women's golf team is in first place following the first round of the 2021 Diffee Ford Lincoln Invite, hosted by Southern Nazarene at KickingBird Golf Club.

The Bronchos posted a team score of 303 after 18 holes. The second and final round is scheduled for Tuesday.

"I think we played really well given the conditions," UCO head women's golf coach Michael Bond said. "We battled through it. Everybody had to deal with the same 20 miles per hour wind and that made it difficult, but we've got ourselves in a good position for Tuesday."

UCO had nine golfers – the entire Broncho roster – competing at KickingBird Monday. Central's top five competed in the team standings as one squad while four others competed as UCO B.

Susana Olivares led Central with a first-round 74, which is tied for third in the individual standings. The freshman is 4-over par.

Emma Shelley also shot a top-10 worthy score in the first round, with the freshman posting a 5-over 75. Shelley is tied for seventh in the individual standings.

Madison O'Dell and Emily Miller both carded 75s after 18 holes and are tied for 16th place. Sydney Roberts's 8-over 78 has her tied for 21st individually.

For Central's second group, the Bronchos posted a 320 and are tied for seventh in the team standings. Kinsley Hall led the way with a 75 and is tied alongside Shelley for seventh in the player leaderboard. Mika Ramos wasn't far behind with a 78. Arin Zachary posted an 83 while Faith Stewart shot an 84.

Central Oklahoma finished tied for first in the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invite last March before the entire season was canceled due to the global health crisis.
