EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma soccer team beat Oklahoma Christian 3-1 Saturday night in a spring soccer matchup at Tom Thompson Field.

The Bronchos are 2-0 in their modified spring season following the cancellation of a tradition fall season in 2020. UCO will play again next weekend in Edmond.

"We played really well today in spots," UCO head coach Mike Cook said. "I think we can see some of the ability we have. It's really just good to be playing but to come out here and get a win is always nice."

Monika McGee, Kaylee Collins, and Taryn Kedzior each scored goals for the Bronchos, who beat Oklahoma Christian for the 11th time in as many tries. Caroline Faulkner produced a clean sheet for her 45 minutes in the first half. Kelsi Gibson made one save in 45 minutes of the second half as Central held OC to only two shots on goal in the game.

McGee scored on a header off a corner kick in the first half. The sophomore midfielder pounded home the first goal of the game in the 16th minute after Emily Tincher sent in a perfect cross from the right corner.

Collins made it 2-0 UCO in the 33rd minute. The junior corralled a loose ball and had plenty of time to gather and fire. She put it upper 90 and gave the Bronchos a comfortable lead.

OC got one back in the second half when a weak cross slipped right through the gloves of Gibson. An Eagle forward was in the right place and the right time and punched in the sitter.

But just a few minutes later, in the 59th, Brooke Moore created space for herself on the right side, taking it past two defenders before firing a shot. Kedzior intercepted her teammates pass with a shot of her own and pushed Central's lead to 3-1.

UCO took just 10 shots in the game Saturday but put nine on goal.

The Bronchos are scheduled to play the first of their eight-game MIAA scheduled next Saturday, March 13, at home against Emporia State.
