UCO Opens ESU Relays

EMPORIA, Kan. – The University of Central Oklahoma track & field team had a small group of Bronchos open the 2021 ESU Relays Friday.
 
Luz Lugo-Ponce got the day started in the pole vault. She cleared 2.67 meters, then 2.82, then 2.97, with the latter earning her a fourth-place finish and a new career-high mark.
 
Laynie Nichols topped the group in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:14.84. She was second in Heat 2 and finished 14th overall. Gabby Lara also competed and finished with a time of 5:48.23 and Sami Harp crossed the finish line in 7:18.56.
 
Action resumes Saturday at noon.
