Central Oklahoma Heads Back To Kansas

EMPORIA, Kan. – The University of Central Oklahoma track & field team returns to Emporia State this weekend for its second outdoor meet in as many weeks at Welch Stadium. The Bronchos will compete in the ESU Relays Friday and Saturday.

Friday's action is scheduled to begin with field events at 11:30 a.m. and track events at 3 p.m. and run throughout the day. The competition will resume Saturday with field events at noon and track events at 4 p.m.

Central Oklahoma is sending a 28-person crew to Emporia for the weekend.

In Friday's action, Luz Lugo-Ponce will be the only field event competitor for the Bronchos. She'll compete in the pole vault. A group of Broncho distance runners will also compete Friday. Kelsie Begansky and Arizona Hummingbird will both run in the 800-meter race. Hummingbird, with Sami Harp, Gabby Lara, Katie McCathern and Layne Nichols will all run in the 1,500-meter race. And Kimberly Perez and Marin Rhodes will both compete in the 5,000-meter race.

Saturday, 19 more Bronchos will arrive for several events on both the track and in the field.

Eve Brennan, Tyleecia Delaney, Sierra Munoz, Dy'Mon Murdock, Tatum Robertson and Kayla South make up the group of throwers competing in Emporia Saturday.

Bailey Christiansen, Danae Davenport, Emme Douglas, Kaleigh Dyas, Jasmine Hopkins, Lydia Lawrence, Hannah Salyer, Skylar Standokes and Elisabeth Stanfield will all compete in short distance events. Delaney, Douglas, Hopkins, Salyer and Standokes, along with Alexis McGill, will also compete in jumps this weekend.

UCO is scheduled to continue its outdoor season next weekend in Texas. The Bronchos are scheduled to compete in West Texas A&M's Joe Meaker Classic April 2-3 in Canyon, Texas.
