UCO 10th In Florida Tourney

DURAN, Fla. (March 22) – Carson Tewell fired an even-par 72 to lead Central Oklahoma in the second round of the Space Coast Collegiate Championship Monday.

The Bronchos moved up to 10th in the team standings after shooting a second consecutive 305 for a 610 total after two trips around the 7,051-yard, par-72 Duran Golf Club. Tampa, Lynn and Wingate are tied for the lead in the 15-team field at 578.

Final-round play in the 54-hole event begins at the at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday (Oklahoma time).

Evan Griffith added a 75 for UCO, while Caleb Kimmel shot 76, Jacob Lackey 82 and Kylian Cavdar 88. Yannic Oppenheimer came in with a 78, Peyton Knell an 80 and Joe Lemieux an 82 competing as individual medalists.

Tewell started his round with four straight pars, then had one birdie and one bogey the rest of the way to shot a 36 on the front nine. He birdied both par-5s on the back nine to get to two-under, but bogeyed his last two holes to come back with another 36.

The sophomore is tied for 17th in the individual standings with a 145 total.
