No. 5 Central Oklahoma Hosts Cameron

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma tennis team, currently ranked fifth in the nation, hosts Cameron Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference dual at Broncho Courts.

Central Oklahoma is 5-1 this season and has three wins vs. Top 25 teams.

Cameron is 6-1 this season, with three wins coming against junior colleges. The Aggies of Lawton, Oklahoma also went 3-0 at the Midwestern State Invitational before losing at Southeastern Oklahoma State this past weekend.

UCO freshman Mae Canete is 5-0 this season in singles play, tying with Adel-Byanu Abidullina for the team lead in wins early in the 2021 season. Abidullina is 5-1. Blythe Buntrock is also unbeaten through a month of play. Also a freshman, Buntrock is 4-0. Paola Landin has a 4-1 record in singles play. Nikki Boyar (3-2) and Isabella Dunlap (2-2) also figure to help out in singles play for the Bronchos.

Central Oklahoma has a 9-5 doubles record through six matches. Boyar and Buntrock have four wins to lead the group. They are 4-2 overall. Abidullina and Dunlap have teamed up for a 3-1 doubles record and Canete and Landin are 2-2.

UCO hasn't played since March 5 and won't play again till March 27. The Bronchos will visit Nebraska Kearney and Fort Hays State next weekend.
