Central Hosts Broncho Invitational

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma men's golf team is scheduled to host its annual Broncho Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Oak Tree Country Club.

Central Oklahoma will put two squads in the tournament on its home course, the 7,126-yard par-70 Oak Tree East, with a shotgun start scheduled for 9 a.m. All teams will play 36 holes Monday followed by a third and final round Tuesday.

UCO's first team is made up of Carson Tewell, Jacob Lackey, Caleb Kimmel, Kylian Cavdar and Evan Griffith. Joseph Lemieux, Parker Rose, Yannic Oppenheimer, Luis Chavez Jr. and Peyton Knell will make up the second team.

Central Oklahoma has finished fourth, ninth, and fourth in three tournaments this season. Tewell finished fifth in his first tournament with the Bronchos last month. Kimmel did the same in his debut two weeks ago and also earned MIAA Golfer of the Week honors for that performance. Griffith also has a ninth-place finish two weeks ago as Central is getting the season into full swing in what will be the fourth tournament of the 2021 season.

Tewell is averaging 74.1 through six rounds of golf this spring. Kimmel, with just two rounds, leads the team with a 71.5 scoring average. Griffith boasts a stout 73.5 scoring average.
