UCO Opens Indoor Season Saturday

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The University of Central Oklahoma track & field team is scheduled to make its Indoor season debut Saturday at the Crimson & Gold Invitational hosted by Pittsburg State.

The event, hosted at the Rober W. Plaster Center – Harvey Dean Track, is scheduled to begin at noon.

Central Oklahoma is sending a baker's dozen to Pittsburg for the season-opening competition. Kaleigh Dyas leads the group as a veteran multi for the Bronchos. Jasmine Hopkins, Lydia Lawrence and Dahsauni Lyday are also back for another year of competition for Central.

Dyas has 15 top-10 finishes in her Indoor career with the Bronchos, including 10 top-five marks. Hopkins adds nine top-10 performances. Lawrence has three top-fives and nine top-20 finishes. And Lyday has 11 top-10 finishes in her time in the Bronze & Blue.

Eve Brennan, Gabby Lara, Tatum Robertson, and Elisabeth Stanfield are also competing as returning letter winners for the Bronchos. Newcomers Cali Dorman, Jordan Chancellor, Ansley Scott, Hannah Van Den Brand and Micah Walker are all slated to make their Broncho debuts Saturday.

Central Oklahoma has six Indoor meets scheduled for this winter. The Bronchos will also compete at Washburn and again at Pittsburg State in January. UCO is scheduled to compete at Missouri Southern, then back at Washburn, and back at Missouri Southern, in February. The 2021-22 MIAA Indoor Championships are scheduled for Feb. 26-27 in Maryville, Mo.
