Central Oklahoma Visits Cameron Tuesday

LAWTON, Okla. – The University of Central Oklahoma women's basketball team is scheduled to play its fourth of six straight road games Tuesday when the Bronchos take on Cameron. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. from Aggie Gym.

Central Oklahoma is 3-2 this season after two weeks of play. The Bronchos won their first two games of the new campaign at Hamilton Field House before beginning the current six-game road swing. The Bronchos last week lost at Southern Nazarene and won at Arkansas-Fort Smith, before falling at Harding on Saturday.

Tuesday's non-conference game will be the fourth game in seven days for the Bronchos.

"We knew this week was going to be a tough stretch but I think it's making us better and we're finding out more about who we are," UCO assistant coach Heather Davis said. "We've struggled a little bit and played really well too. We need to find our consistent baseline and work to improve from there."

Central Oklahoma and Cameron will play for the 76th time Tuesday night. UCO owns a 45-30 all-time record in the series that dates back to 1975. The Bronchos have won each of the last 14 meetings dating back to 2006.

This year's version of Central Oklahoma heads to Cameron averaging 70.6 points per game. The Bronchos shoot as a team 41.3 percent overall, 22.3 percent from 3-point range, and 71.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Kelsey Johnson leads Central Oklahoma in virtually every statistical category. The senior is averaging 19.0 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per game through five games this season. Johnson is shooting 56.1 percent from the field and 78.3 percent from the free-throw line. She leads UCO in minutes played, shots made and attempted, free-throws made and attempted, rebounds and blocks.

Alayzha Knapp is the team's second leading scorer after five games. The forward from Tulsa is averaging 9.6 points per game and 3.6 rebounds per game. She is shooting 60 percent overall and is one of seven Bronchos averaging at least one steal per game (1.2).

Karly Wadsworth, at 7.0 points per game, is the third leading scorer for the Bronchos. In just 11.2 minutes per game, Wadsworth is shooting 39.3 percent overall. She is the team's leader from outside, hitting nine 3-pointers in five games played. Wadsworth is 9-for-23, a 39.1 percent mark, from behind the arc.

Brooke Rayner and Aliyah Llanusa both average 6.4 points per game. Caley Young, who didn't play Saturday at Harding, is averaging 5.5 points to go with 4.0 rebounds per game. Ginger Reece (4.8) and Clary Donica (4.2) have both been contributors on offense.

Defensively, Central Oklahoma is allowing 64.2 points per game this season. The Bronchos, feisty and aggressive without the ball, are holding opponents to 39.6 percent on all field goals. UCO also has 60 steals in five games, a 12.0 per game average, and the Bronchos force 22.0 turnovers per game.

Cameron is 4-1 this season and welcomes UCO to its gym coming off the first loss of the season. The Aggies average 87.4 points per game, shooting 45.6 percent overall. Cameron shoots 40.1 percent from outside and averages 12.2 made 3-pointers per game.
