UCO Heads To Texas Tourney

The Central Oklahoma men's golf team resumes the fall season Monday and Tuesday with a trip to Amarillo, Texas for the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament hosted by West Texas A&M opens at 9:30 a.m. Monday with a shotgun start for two rounds at the 6,937-yard, par-71 Amarillo Country Club. Final-round play tees off at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Joining UCO and two teams the Buffs have will be Hutchinson, Cameron, Odessa, Dallas Baptist, Texas-Permian Basin, Western Texas, Arkansas-Fort Smith, Missouri Southern, Wayland Baptist, Dodge City and Garden City.

The Bronchos have finished 10^th and eighth in their first two fall events before taking last week off. UCO closes out the fall campaign with two more tournaments after this one.

"We're looking forward to getting back at it," first-year head coach Derrick Thompson said. "The guys have been working really hard the last couple of weeks and they're excited about playing."

Making up Central's five-man squad will be junior Evan Griffith, sophomores Ross Taylor, Riley Harris and Caleb Kimmel and freshman Bennett Baldwin.

Griffith has been the team's steadiest player in the early going, having posted top-30 finishes in both tournaments while carding a 73.0 stroke average for six rounds.

Baldwin is carrying a 74.3 average through six rounds and Kimmel is at 74.5 for the two tournaments, while Taylor and Harris have both played in one tournament.
