UCO To Close Out Fall Season

The Central Oklahoma women's golf team closes out the fall season with a trip to Jekyll Island, Ga. for the Jekyll Island Invitational hosted by Lincoln Memorial.

The two-day, 36-hole tournament gets underway at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Pine Lakes Golf Club and wraps up Tuesday. Seventeen teams will compete in the event.

"We've played pretty well in our last two tournaments and want to finish off the fall on a good note," head coach Michael Bond said. "This is a new tournament for us and we're looking forward to competing against some different teams."

The Bronchos have had top-four finishes in their last two tournaments, including a solid fourth-place showing in the Central Regional Preview last week.

Making up UCO's five-player unit will be junior Madison O'Dell and sophomores Susana Olivares, Emma Shelley, Taylor Towers and Mika Ramos.

Olivares has been a model of consistency this fall with top-12 finishes in all three events. The sophomore standout has posted a stellar 72.86 scoring average for seven rounds.

Shelley has placed in the top 20 in both tournaments she's played this fall and carries a 74.25 average. Towers has a 75.25 average with top-25 finishes in both events she's played.

O'Dell (77.14) and Ramos (78.0) have played in all three tournaments for the Bronchos.
