Central Oklahoma Set For Northwest Open

Bronchos Competing In Second Meet Of Season Friday

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The University of Central Oklahoma track & field team returns to action this weekend with the Northwest Open at Northwest Missouri State's Hughes Fieldhouse.

The Bronchos will begin with Friday's pentathlon at 1 p.m. Central has a trio of athletes competing in that. UCO will also have a team in Friday night's distance medley relay. Saturday, the rest of the meet gets underway with field events starting at 11 a.m. and track events beginning at noon.

Tyleecia Delaney, Ellie Kincade, and Hannah Salyer will each compete in the pentathlon Friday. Delaney is the only one of the three that has done the five-event circuit before. She scored a career-best 2,497 points in the event at the UCO Alumni Classic last February. Kincade and Salyer made their Central debuts last week at the season opening MIAA Rust Buster.

Katie McCathern, Alexis McGill, Kelsie Begansky, and Arizona Hummingbird will make up a foursome of Bronchos competing in the distance medley relay. Begansky and Hummingbird made up for 2 of 4 that competed in the event at last year's MIAA Indoor Championships and set a new school record in the relay.

Dahsauni Lyday, Sierra Munoz, Dy'Mon Murdock, and Tatum Robertson make up a group of four throwers that Central will roll out this weekend. All four will throw both the shot put and the weight throw.

Abena Sey and Skylar Standokes, as well as McGill, will be the Broncho jumpers Saturday. Sey, an Outdoor All-American and Indoor national qualifier, looks to improve on her 1.56-meter high jump mark at last week's season opener. She hit 1.71 meters last season to qualify for nationals.

Standokes, who entered the season with a team-high 33 top-10 finishes in her career, will compete in the long jump and triple jump as well as the 60-meter hurdles Saturday. She earned four more top-10s last week to start the new season.

Central Oklahoma is scheduled to compete every weekend for five straight weeks with this weekend being the second in that run of meets. UCO will visit Pittsburg State next weekend for the MIAA Challenge.
