Central Vaults Into National Rankings

PEMBROKE, N.C. – The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team catapulted up the national rankings this week, landing at No. 15 in the country in the latest National College Baseball Writers Association Top 25.

Central Oklahoma received just one vote last week, but tallied enough from the pollsters this week to land among the country's best ball clubs.

UCO is 13-3 on the season, with the Bronchos earning an 8-2 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State Wednesday night as the latest poll was released. Central is 10-2 at home and 2-1 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association standings following the first weekend of league play.

Central is led by its pitching staff. The Bronchos have totaled 195 strikeouts in just 16 games, an average of 12.1 per game this season.

The Bronchos will continue MIAA action this weekend, taking on Fort Hays State in a three-game series beginning Friday.
