ADA, Okla. – The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team beat East Central 14-9 Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference road matchup to push the Broncho win streak to seven games.

UCO is now 17-3 overall this season, having won seven straight and 13 out of 14.

"We did play really well today, but we could've finished the game better," UCO head coach John Martin said. "We'll take the win and move on and get back home and get ready for the next one."

Central held a 14-3 lead going into the bottom of the ninth.

The offensive outburst by the Bronchos saw a season-high 20 hits. The Bronchos got off to a good start in a hurry. UCO rallied with two outs in the top of the first inning to take a big lead.

Joe Mondragon kept it going with a bunt single before Cacy Harper smashed a two-RBI double to center to give the Bronchos a 4-0 lead.

Colton Bertus kept it going in the top of the second with a solo home run that put the Bronchos up 5-0.

Central leveled out for a couple of innings, and ECU got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third, but the Bronchos rallied again in the fifth.

It also came with two outs in the inning, UCO got a single from Zac Freeman that scored Mondragon, who was hit by a pitch to leadoff the inning. Scott then hit a single up the middle to score Carson Green and Freeman. That gave the Bronchos an 8-1 lead in the game.

Central added two more in the seventh. After a leadoff double down the left-field line by Green, and a one-out single from Freeman, Bertus knocked a sacrifice fly to right field to score Green and give the Bronchos a 9-2 lead. Scott then scored Freeman on a single to center that made it 10-2.

Brayden Belden came on in the fifth to relieve Vickers and continued a solid day on the mound for the Bronchos. Belden threw two innings out of the bullpen, allowing four hits and two runs. Lawson Isaacs then came in for Belden in the seventh and struck out two in his inning of work.

The Bronchos responded to a big strikeout by Isaacs to end the seventh with a pair of runs in the top of the eighth and both came on one swing of the bat. After Mondragon led off with a walk, Harper saw a pitch he liked and drilled it over the fence in left field to give the Bronchos a 12-3 lead.
