Caldwell, Sey Continue Successful Season In Norman

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Central Oklahoma track & field team competed at Oklahoma's J.D. Martin Invitational Saturday and continued to see similar results – two of its field athletes hitting NCAA provisional qualifying standards.

Madelyn Caldwell and Abena Sey, who both have hit provisional marks this season multiple times, did so again Saturday in Norman. The Broncho duo led a charge of three Top 5 finishes and 10 Top 10 finishes.

Caldwell finished third in the weight throw, hitting 17.10 meters, and took sixth in the shot put, throwing 13.82 meters. Sey took a fourth-place finish in the high jump with her 1.70-meter leap.

UCO also got a top-five finish from Arizona Hummingbird, who finished fifth in the mile. Hummingbird crossed the finish line in 5:18.25. She also finished 15th in the 800 meters.

Distance partner Kelsie Begansky swapped results. The freshman finished sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:26.56 and crossed the finish line 12th in the mile at 5:26.68.

Chavon Reece finished seventh in the long jump at 5.39 meters. Central put a 4x400 relay team in the same spot with a 4:18.62 mark. Bailey Christiansen took ninth in the 600-yard race, crossing the finish line in 1:32.65. Her partner Bailee Thomas was right behind her in 10th place at 1:33.32. And Dy'Mon Murdock took ninth in the shot put with a 12.990-meter toss to round out the 10 Bronchos that finished with Top 10 performances.

Central Oklahoma will return to action next Saturday and will be back in Norman. The Bronchos are hosting the UCO Classic at Oklahoma's Mosier Indoor.
