Winkler Paces Bronchos At NEO Tourney

MIAMI, Okla. (Feb. 8) – Kalin Winkler rolled through the 197-pound bracket to lead a bevy of Central Oklahoma placers at the Golden Norsemen Open Saturday.

Winkler was one of six placers for the Broncho varsity, which also got runner-up finishes from 125 Studd Morris, 133 Noah McQuigg and 174 Gage McBride, a third from Hvy Christian Arriola and a fourth from Hvy Garrett Beier.
Spencer Schickram captured the 141-pound title to pace five unattached entries who finished in the top four in the one-day tournament hosted by Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. Kobey Kizarr (149) and Gage Gomez (157) finished second, 157 Kobi Gomez and 197 Braden Morgan were third and 149 Peter Rolle was fourth.

Winkler went 3-0 on the day, opening with back-to-back first-period falls before winning by injury default in the title bout.

Morris won two matches and McQuigg in making the finals at their weights, while McBride recorded a fall and two technical falls to advance to the championship match before dropping a 6-4 decision to Oklahoma State's Gavin Stika.

Schickram had three easy wins on the day, outscoring his first two opponents a combined 34-0 in notching consecutive technical falls before routing NEO's Blake Gonzalez 15-5 in the finals.
