UCO Sixth In Florida Tourney

DADE CITY, Fla. (Feb. 24) – Jacob Lackey shot a second-round 70 to get among the individual leaders in pacing Central Oklahoma on the first day of the Saint Leo Invitational Monday.

The Bronchos started with a 296 in the morning round before knocking 10 shots off that in the second round to finish with a 36-hole total of 582, leaving them sixth in the team race. Nova Southeastern leads the tournament at 569, four shots ahead of host Saint Leo.

Final-round play begins at 7:30 a.m. (Oklahoma time) at the 7,153-yard, par-72 Lake Jovita Country Club South Course.

Lackey is tied for eighth in the individual standings after shooting 73-70 for a one-under-par 143 total. Joe Lemieux is tied for 12th at even-par 144, while Blake Murray shot 77-69, Yannic Oppenheimer 75-75 and Kylian Cavdar 76-79.

Lackey opened his rounds on No. 4 and quickly got to three-under in the first round with a birdie on the par-4 sixth and eagle on the par-5 ninth holes. He dropped back to even with a bogey and double bogey, then played his last six holes at one-over to finish with a morning 73.

The junior birdied his first hole in the afternoon and then made two straight bogeys to drop back to one-over before responding, going three-under on his last 15 holes for a closing 70.

Lemieux, who started both his rounds on the sixth hole, got off to a slow start in the morning and was two-over after five holes. He got back to even with birdies on the par-5 11th and par-4 17th, then made five straight pars before finishing with a bogey for an opening-round 72.

The junior was three-over after two holes in the afternoon before rallying, making four birdies the rest of the way to get back to even par for the round.

Murray rebounded from a first-round 77 with a three-under 69 in the afternoon. The senior was even par through 15 holes in the second round before finishing with three consecutive birdies.
