Central In First After Day One At Houston Classic

HOUSTON – The University of Central Oklahoma men's golf team got its spring semester off to a good start with a dominant first- and second-round performance Monday at the Houston Classic at the Golf Club of Houston.
 
Central Oklahoma is in first place following 36 holes of play. The Bronchos shot a combined 578, six shots better than Southern Arkansas, after posting rounds of 294 and 284.
 
Yannic Oppenheimer and Joe Lemieux both ended the first day 1-under par. Oppenheimer shot a 1-over 73 his first trip around before firing a 2-under 70 to follow that up. Lemieux shot a 1-under 71 before shooting an even par 72 in round two. The two are tied for third after the first day.
 
Jacob Lackey is tied for sixth after shooting a 144 for the day. He shot rounds of 74 and 70.
 
Kylian Cavdar shot a 151 (79-72) to land in 18th place and Blake Murray, 152 (76-76), is in 19th place.
 
Evan Griffith, who is competing as an individual in the tournament, is in 13th place after shooting a 5-over 149 Monday. He posted rounds of 75 and 74.

Central Oklahoma will finish the Houston Classic Tuesday with the third and final round.
