Men's Golf Announces Signing Class

Trio Of Standouts Heading Central's Way

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma men's golf team recently announced its signing class for 2021 with the Bronchos brining in three newcomers looking to contribute to UCO's success.

Liam Coughlin, Bennett Baldwin, and Ethan Galvan will arrive at Central next year.

"I'm so excited for the players we have signed for this spring and next fall," UCO head men's golf coach Josh Fosdick said. "Each one of them has the opportunity to make an impact right away. We have such a deep team that making the top five will be hard, but the competition to land one of those spots will be fierce. Like they say, 'iron sharpens iron.'"

Coughlin will come to Central from Kansas City, Missouri. The Rockhurst High School product was an All-State performer as a sophomore before his junior season was cut short. He's ready to finish his high school career on a high note this spring before joining the Bronchos.

"I chose UCO because I felt I could not only better myself as a player but better those around me," Coughlin said. "I also love the team and the atmosphere created. It's a family. I am extremely excited to spend my next four years as a Broncho."

Baldwin comes from Stillwater, Oklahoma. He's won a handful of junior tournaments and has helped boost the prowess of the Stillwater High School program.

"I choose UCO because of the golf management major," Bennett said. "I also love the size of the school and how close it is to my hometown. Coach Fosdick did a great job recruiting me and made me feel like I belong at UCO. Not to mention how great my future teammates are and the nice courses we get to play and practice at."

Galvan is another out of state player that will head Central's way. The Edinburg, Texas native attended Texas Online Prep School and is ready to be a Broncho and start helping UCO. He also has a handful of victories in junior tournaments.

"I chose to go there, because I saw myself fitting right in with the program," Galvan said.

Central Oklahoma is a regular contender in NCAA Division II. The Bronchos have seven wins in the last four and a half seasons under Fosdick.

… I've watched Liam grow from a tiny little guy at Oklahoma State Golf Camp to the best player in Missouri. He really has a high ceiling that I don't think he's even scratched. I feel like he has the potential to be a huge factor for the next four years.

… Anytime you get a great local player it's a bonus. Bennett has been on a great Stillwater high school team with players who all have gone on to play college golf so he is well seasoned on the level of competition he'll face here. He's 100 percent bought in to what we do here and I can't wait to see him next fall.

… Sometimes things just fall in your lap. Ethan is an example of that. Homeschooled and from south Texas, when his friend Luis came here to play for us he decided to come up to visit and played with the guys. Turns out he could play, so much so that my current players said, 'you'd better get him coach.' Now he's going to be a Broncho. I know he appreciates the opportunity to compete at this level and is fired up to get here and fight for a spot. A good chip on the shoulder never hurts.
