Bronchos Bringing Four Standouts To Campus In 2021

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma tennis team announced its signing class, a group of four high school standouts that will be donning the Bronze & Blue next fall.

"We feel like we have a very strong class," UCO head tennis coach Jaron Maestas said. "Each of the four girls have their own unique skillset and each of them have a chance to help us out. I'm excited for them and am looking forward to getting them on campus next year. It will be fun to watch them compete."

Christine Canete, from Venice, California, signing a national letter of intent to come to UCO. She will join her older sister Mae Canete, who is a freshman this season. The two have numerous high-level accolades in California. Both have won Gold Balls as singles and the two as a doubles team has also enjoyed plenty of success.

Christine Canete is a blue chip recruit and is the second such recruit signed by Maestas in the last two years.

Grace Polster will head north to Central from her hometown, Amarillo, Texas. Polster has garnered several recognitions, including USTA super champ in 12s, 14s, 16s, and 18s. She also helped her team to the state tournament three times.

Grace Chadick is from Chicago, Illinois and will also bring several accolades to Central. Listed as a four-star recruit and the 12th-ranked player in the state, she boasts several victories and awards on her resume, including multiple state tournament appearances.

Taylor Conway is the only Oklahoma high school tennis player to sign with Central this year. Conway will make her way to UCO from Bixby. She was a regional and state champion at No. 1 doubles in 2019.

Central Oklahoma has become a national contender over the past four seasons, earning NCAA tournament bids, winning regional titles, and, in 2018, reaching the national quarterfinals. UCO has won 57 matches since Maestas took over in 2016.
