Bronchos Welcome Lincoln To Hamilton

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma women's basketball team is back in action Monday night as the Bronchos take on Lincoln in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play at Hamilton Field House. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
 
Central is 9-3 this season and 3-1 in the MIAA. The Bronchos are looking to bounce back after a conference loss to Central Missouri Saturday afternoon. Lincoln is 3-9 overall this season and has an 0-3 mark in league play. LU lost at Newman Saturday afternoon.
 
Central Oklahoma not only aims to bounce back from a loss and get back in the win column, but the Bronchos are also targeting a return to the form of play that led to so much success before the holiday break.
 
UCO is averaging 79.3 points per game through 12 games this season. The Bronchos make 7.9 3-pointers per game and 12.3 free-throws per game. UCO shoots 42.8 percent overall, 33.3 percent from outside the arc, and 72.5 percent from the charity stripe.
 
Central is led by Micayla Haynes. The senior point guard is averaging 12.4 points per game and has a team-high 23 made 3-pointers this season. She also averages just under three assists per game and just over one steal per game.
 
Kelsey Johnson also leads Central and is ied with Haynes at 12.4 points per game after 12 games played. Johnson has a team-high 59 made field goals and shoots 56.2 percent from the floor. She also leads the team with 27 made free-throws and shoots 79.4 percent from the line. Johnson is the team's leading rebounder as well, pulling down 7.9 boards per game. She is near even in rebounds this season, having gathered 47 offensive rebounds and 48 defensive rebounds in 12 games.
 
Shatoya Bryson and Jaci Littell are also both key figures on the offensive end of the floor for the Bronchos. Bryson, a senior, averages 9.2 points per game and Littell, a freshman, averages 8.7 per contest. The two have combined for 35 made 3-pointers, with Littell edging out Bryson 18-17.
 
All four of those key players on offense spark a stout defense for the Bronchos too. Johnson is averaging 1.6 blocks per game this season. Bryson has a team-high 29 steals (2.4 per game), and Haynes (15) and Littell (12) are also very active on the defensive end of the floor.
 
UCO as a team averages 11.3 steals per game and forces 22 turnovers per outing. The Broncho defense has been suffocating at times and holds opponents to just 36.2 percent shooting overall and 29.4 percent from behind the arc.
 
Lincoln as a team averages 62.3 points per game. The Blue Tigers shoot 38.6 percent from the floor, 24.9 percent from outside the arc, making 2.5 threes per game, and 57.4 percent from the free-throw line.
 
Kaloni Pryear leads the team, scoring 16.4 points per game and has a team-high 73 made field goals this season. Vivian Chigbu is second on the team in scoring at 12.3 points per game. She is the team's leading rebounder at 9.3 per game.
 
Monday night will be Central's second of a four-games in seven-days stretch. The Bronchos continue a busy week Thursday with a road trip to Joplin, Mo. to take Missouri Southern before taking on Pittsburg State in Kansas on Saturday.
