Broncho Baseball To Host Tryouts

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team is hosting an open tryout next week for any students interested in joining the Bronchos, fifth-year head coach John Martin announced Thursday.

The tryout will be at Wendell Simmons Field at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20. Those interested in participating must download, complete, and return the registration form by noon on Aug. 19.

Interested students must bring the following:
*Current unofficial transcript from college currently attending (showing enrollment in a minimum of 12 credit hours).
*Sickle cell test results or a completed sickle cell test waiver (attached to the form).  If you have had a sickle cell test done previously, please provide a copy of the results.
*A physical conducted within the past six months. High school or junior college participants or four-year transfer candidates who competed during 2018-2019 baseball season can use that physical.
*Four-year Transfer participants (NCAA Division I, II or NAIA) would also need to email head coach Martin (jmartin97@uco.edu) with a permission to contact/release form from their current school prior to attending the tryout.

High school, junior college, and all other participants not previously registered are encouraged to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center (www.eligibilitycenter.org).

UCO baseball has a long-standing winning tradition with more than 650 victories since 2000. The Bronchos have been to the NCAA Division II Central Regional in each of the past three seasons. UCO has also had three players selected in the MLB Draft over the past three years.
