UCO Ready For Florida Tourney

The Central Oklahoma men's golf team journeys to Miami, Fla. Monday and Tuesday to compete in the Battle at the Shores.

Top-ranked Barry is hosting the 16-team, 54-hole tournament at the 6,800-yard, par-71 Normandy Shores Golf Club. First-round play begins at 7:30 a.m. (Oklahoma time) Monday, with 36 holes on tap, and concludes with an 18-hole round Tuesday.

Coach Josh Fosdick's crew is coming off a season-best runner-up finish in the Lindenwood Invitational two weeks agao. Making up UCO's five-man contingent will be seniors Alexander Hughes and Cody Troutman, juniors Joe Lemieux and Blake Murray and sophomore Jacob Lackey.

Murray tops the team with a 72.35 scoring average. He's finished in the top 20 in five of Central's eight tournaments this year, including a 12th-place tie in the last event at Lindenwood.

Lemieux has also played in all eight tournaments and has a 73.48 average. He's coming off his best finish of the season, a tie for ninth at Lindenwood.

Lackey, Hughes and Troutman have all played in five events so far. Hughes and Troutman both have 74.0 averages and Lackey is at 74.77. Hughes led the Bronchos at Lindenwood with a season-best seventh-place showing.
