Central Oklahoma Remains No. 2 In NFCA Poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Central Oklahoma softball team remained the No. 2 ranked team in the country Wednesday as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its weekly Top 25.

Central Oklahoma is 29-3 this season. The Bronchos did have a five-game win streak halted on Tuesday evening, but UCO is 11-1 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play. The Bronchos also had a 20-game win streak earlier this season between their first and second losses of the season.
 
The Bronchos also rank among the nation's best statistically.
 
Central has the highest win percentage in NCAA Division II, ranks second in the country in doubles per game (2.43), fourth in the country in double plays per game (0.57), seventh in the country in team batting average (.350), and eighth in the country in both scoring (7.7 runs per game) and on-base percentage (.435).
 
UCO is led by its senior third baseman, JoBi Heath, who leads the country with 20 doubles in 32 games played. She is also fourth in DII in runs batted in with 43. Bailey Thompson, another senior, is ninth in the country in triples with five. Central freshman Bailey McKittrick ranks among the national leaders in wins this season with 15. She is also third in the country with a .937 win percentage (15-1).
 
Central Oklahoma returns to the field this weekend to take on Northeastern State in an MIAA doubleheader in Tahlequah, Okla. Saturday. The Bronchos will then return to Edmond for more MIAA play, hosting Southwest Baptist and Central Missouri April 12-13.
 
The University of Central Oklahoma is also serving this year as host of the MIAA Postseason Tournament, May 1-5, at Broncho Stadium in Edmond.
