UCO Drops Doubleheader at Missouri Southern

No. 17 Bronchos Host Newman Next Friday to End Regular Season

JOPLIN, Missouri – Central Oklahoma couldn't get its offense untracked in dropping a MIAA doubleheader to Missouri Southern Saturday afternoon.

The No. 17-ranked Bronchos managed just nine hits and four runs as the No. 12 Lions claimed 6-3 and 6-1 wins. UCO, which swept No. 2 Pittsburg State Friday, fell to 39-12 overall and 16-6 in the league while MSSU improved to 43-7 and 18-4.

Central got off to a great start in the first inning of the opener to grab a 3-0 lead.

Brooklyn Ryan ripped a one-out double to right field and Haley Gallo walked before Kennedy Clark walloped a bases-clearing home run to left-center.

It was the eighth homer of the season for Clark, who entered the 2026 campaign with three dingers in 163 career games.

But the lead was short-lived. The Lions opened their first at bat with consecutive singles and then hit a three-run homer to tie it.

MSSU broke the deadlock with a single run in the second and then scored once in the third and fifth to go up 6-3.

UCO couldn't muster any offense after its first-inning outburst, managing just one other hit on Jenna Jobe's leadoff single in the seventh.

Missouri Southern took a 1-0 lead in the second inning of the nightcap on a solo homer before the Bronchos tied it in the third.

Rylee Lemos led off with a double to left-center and went to third on Ryan's sacrifice bunt before scoring on Clark's single to right field.

The Lions went ahead with three runs in the fourth, added two more in the sixth to make it 6-1 and UCO had no answer.

Lemos had two of Central's six hits.

The Bronchos close out the regular season and celebrate Senior Day Friday, hosting league rival Newman for a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Gerry Pinkston Stadium.
