Adel-Byanu Abidullina Named MIAA Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced Monday that Adel-Byanu Abidullina is the Women's Tennis Player of the Week for Week 10.

It's the second time this season Abidullina has won the award. It's the fifth time this season that a Broncho has won the award.

Abidullina led No. 9 UCO to a 2-0 week with a win at Northeastern State and a home win over Lindenwood. She went 3-0, winning a huge top-20 showdown in Tahlequah over Tatjana Stoll. Ranked 17th in the country, Abidullina beat the 15th-rated Stoll 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.

She also won 6-2 in doubles in helping the Bronchos knock off NSU 6-1. Abidullina won her doubles match Sunday against a short-handed LU squad 6-1.

Abidullina is now 12-3 this spring and a perfect 7-0 in the MIAA. She's won her last five singles matches. She also has a 15-2 doubles record, including a 9-0 mark in the MIAA.

The Bronchos are 14-3 this season. Central will play two non-conference matches this week at Cameron and at Midwestern State. The Bronchos will then prep for the MIAA Postseason Tournament in Oklahoma City in two weeks. UCO will be the No. 2 seed in that tournament.
