No. 9 Central Oklahoma Visits Northeastern State

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The University of Central Oklahoma tennis team is set to return to the courts Friday as the ninth-ranked Bronchos take on 44th-ranked Northeastern State at 3 p.m.

Central Oklahoma is 12-3 on the season and 6-1 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association standings. The Bronchos are looking to rebound after a loss last weekend ended an 11-match win streak. Northeastern State is 7-7 overall and 5-2 in the MIAA.

"This is always a big match," UCO head tennis coach Jaron Maestas said. "We know that we need to beat them because there are postseason implications that will come out of this match."

UCO is led by a pair of freshmen both ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's latest Top 20. Isabella Dunlap is ranked No. 6 in the nation while Adel-Byanu Abidullina is ranked No. 17.

Dunlap is 7-6 in singles play this season and has a 4-3 record in the MIAA. She's also part of the No. 15-rated doubles team in the country with teammate Paola Landin. Dunlap is 10-4 this season in doubles matches, including a 4-2 mark in MIAA contests.

Abidullina is 11-3 overall in singles matches with an unblemished 6-0 mark in the MIAA. She has won four-straight matches. In doubles play, Abidullina is 13-2. She's played with both Kirtana Bhat and Nikki Boyar. With Bhat, she is 8-2. That duo was nationally ranked earlier this season. With Boyar, she is 5-0. That duo is 4-0 in the MIAA.

Landin is 15-1 this season. She is ranked 74th in the country. Bhat is 5-4, Boyar is 10-5. Sarah Van Eeckhoudt (6-7) and Jessica Le (7-2) also help UCO out in singles play. Van Eeckhoudt, with teammate Alix Williams, is 6-0 in doubles play this season.

UCO will return home for the weekend. The Bronchos are hosting Lindenwood on Sunday. Central will honor its seniors following the final home match of the 2019 season.
