Bronchos Take on KT Woodman Classic

WICHITA, Kan. – The University of Central Oklahoma track & field team is set to compete in the annual KT Woodman Classic at Wichita State this weekend, with action beginning Friday for the Bronchos and wrapping up Saturday.

Central Oklahoma is coming off back-to-back sixth-place finishes. The Bronchos took sixth in the ESU Relays at Emporia State two weeks ago before finishing sixth at the SBU Invitational at Southwest Baptist last weekend.

Madelyn Caldwell is leading UCO into this weekend's competition. The junior thrower from Pauls Valley, Okla. is coming off a provisional qualifying throw last week. She hit 14 meters even at SBU, putting her among the nation's top marks this season. It's the fifth-best mark of those competing in the event Saturday. Caldwell will also compete in the discus and the hammer throw.

Arizona Hummingbird will also lead the Bronchos into the weekend. A sophomore distance runner, Hummingbird set a personal record in the 1500 meters two weeks ago, running the race in 4:57. She followed that with a new PR in last week at SBU, finishing in 4:50. In three races this spring, Hummingbird has finished fourth, second, and ninth in the 1500.

UCO will make it four meets in four weeks next weekend. The Bronchos are in Norman, Okla. for the annual John Jacobs Invitational at the University of Oklahoma next Saturday.
