Lemieux Leads UCO In Final Round

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (March 5) – Joe Lemieux and Cody Troutman both had under-par rounds to lead Central Oklahoma on the final day of the Las Vegas Desert Classic Wednesday.

Lemieux made two eagles in firing a four-under 68 and Troutman added a one-under 71 for the Bronchos, who closed with an even-par 288 in finishing with an 886 total in the three-day, 54-hole tournament.

West Florida won the 15-team event at the 6,962-yard, par-72 Royal Links Golf Club with an 839 total, followed by Missouri-St. Louis (852) and St. Mary's 863.

Alexander Hughes added a 73 for UCO, while Blake Murray and Jacob Lackey both had 76s.

Lemieux started his round on No. 12 and reeled off five straight pars before making eagle on the par-5 18th hole.  He offset a bogey on No. 2 with another eagle – this time on the par-4 fifth – and added a birdie on the par 4 seventh to get to four-under before finishing with four consecutive pars.

Troutman opened the day on No. 10 and bogeyed two of his first three holes and birdied No. 18 to shoot a one-over 37.  He then birdied Nos. 3, 5 and 8 to get to three-under on the day before bogeying his final round for a closing 34.

Troutman had the best finish for the Bronchos, coming in 17th with a 219 total.  Hughes tied for 23rd at 221.

Central doesn't play again until hosting the Broncho Invitational March 18-19 at Oak Tree Country Club in Edmond.
