Kirtana Bhat Named MIAA Tennis Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced Monday that University of Central Oklahoma senior Kirtana Bhat is this week's Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

Bhat led No. 4 Central Oklahoma to a 2-0 week in MIAA play, winning 7-0 at Nebraska-Kearney and 6-1 at Fort Hays State and the Tucson, Ariz. native went 4-0 on the week herself.

She won both her singles matches and both her doubles matches. She won 6-1, 6-1 Sunday at Hays in the No. 3 spot after winning 6-2, 6-1 at Kearney in the No. 4 spot on Saturday.

In doubles play, Bhat never lost a point, winning 6-0 at both UNK and at FHSU alongside teammate Adel-Byanu Abidullina.

Bhat is a fourth-year starter for the Broncho tennis program. She's not only earned All-MIAA honors in each of her first three seasons at UCO, but Bhat has 119 career wins to date. She's totaled 62 career wins in singles play at 57 career victories in doubles competition.

Central Oklahoma is ranked fourth in NCAA Division II and is 8-2 this season. The Bronchos are 3-0 in the MIAA standings. UCO plays next at Oklahoma Baptist this Thursday at 3 p.m.
