Heath, McKittrick Claim MIAA Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 19) – Central Oklahoma's JoBi Heath and Bailey McKittrick earned Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association softball player of the week honors, the league office announced Tuesday.

Heath was named Hitter of the Week and McKittrick Pitcher of the Week -- both for the second time this season -- after leading the No. 4-ranked Bronchos to road doubleheader sweeps of Lindenwood and Lincoln last weekend.

Heath had a dominating performance at the plate, batting .538 (7-for-13) with five doubles and seven runs batted in. The senior third basemen from Edmond also scored four runs while finishing with a .923 slugging percentage and .600 on-base percentage.

McKittrick went 2-0 with a 1.08 earned run average over the weekend. The freshman right-hander from Moore allowed just two runs in 13.0 innings while walking five and striking out 16 as the two teams batted just .255 against her.

UCO, 24-1 on the season and riding a 20-game winning streak, takes a break from the conference slate this weekend with a trip to St. Joseph, Mo. for the Hy-Vee Classic. The Bronchos will play four games in three days instead of the six games originally scheduled.
