UCO Sixth After First Day of Broncho Invitational

TOURNAMENT RESULTS

EDMOND (March 18) – Joe Lemieux fired an even-par 70 to lead Central Oklahoma in the second round of the Broncho Invitational that wrapped up a 36-hole day Monday evening at Oak Tree Country Club.

The Bronchos shot 295 in the afternoon round after opening with a 284 and finished two trips around the 7,102-yard, par-70 East Course with a 579 total, which is good for sixth place in the 16-team tournament.

St. Mary's is atop the leaderboard with a 566 total, one shot ahead of Southeastern Oklahoma. Oklahoma Christian is third at 571 and Southern Arkansas fourth at 574.

Final-round play begins Tuesday at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.

Blake Murray backed up Lemieux's 70 with a 72, while Cody Troutman shot 74 and Alexander Hughes and Yannic Oppenheimer both had 79s. Peyton Knell (70), Jacob Lackey (75) and Holden Crago (82) are all competing as individual medalists for the Bronchos.

Lemieux is tied for 10th in the individual standings with a one-over-par 141 total after following a morning 71 with the afternoon 70.

The sophomore started the second round on No. 3 and promptly got to two-under when he holed out his second shot on the 442-yard par-4. He got to three-under with a birdie on the par-3 sixth and stayed there after offsetting a bogey on No. 7 with another birdie on the par-3 eighth.

Lemieux then reeled off six straight pars before bogeying three of his last five holes to finish off the even-par round.

Murray opened his second round with back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 1 and 2, rebounded with birdies on the par-5 fourth and par-3 sixth to get to even-par and finished off a front-nine 35 with three straight pars.

He started the back nine with three pars and a birdie on the par-4 13th to get to one-under, but double-bogeyed No. 14 and bogeyed No. 17 in shooting a back-nine 37.
