Bronchos Open 2019 Schedule Saturday

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Central Oklahoma tennis team is set to make its 2019 season debut Saturday when the Bronchos take on Tampa at the Naimoli and Young Family Tennis Complex beginning at 1 p.m.

Central Oklahoma is ranked No. 9 in the country in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association's national rankings. The Bronchos boast the No. 2 rated individual in the country in Isabella Dunlap, who made a run to the ITA national championship match this past fall. Dunlap, with teammate Paola Landin, is the No. 11 doubles team in the country.

Dunlap went 6-0 at the ITA regional this fall, and then won her next two matches at nationals before ending her first semester in college as the national runner up. Dunlap went 10-3 overall in the fall season.

UCO also returns senior Kirtana Bhat, who has won over 100 matches in her career at UCO. The Tuscon, Ariz. native won 99 matches in her first three seasons before winning a handful of fall competitions.

Sarah Van Eeckhoudt also returns, along with Landin. Those two combined for nearly 100 wins a year ago for the Bronchos. Van Eeckhoudt won a combined 45 matches between singles and doubles play, while Landin won 44.

Dunlap is one newcomer. Adel Byanu, Nikki Boyar, and Jessica Le are also new to UCO. Byanu won 10 matches this fall, as did Boyar. Boyar won the ITA Regional's B Flight this fall.

Tampa went 10-9 last season. The Spartans return six players from that squad.
