Baseball Moves Weekend Series To Edmond

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team announced Wednesday afternoon that its scheduled road trip to Arkansas Tech this weekend has been moved to Edmond due to inclement weather in Russellville, Ark.

The Bronchos were scheduled to play Friday through Sunday with three games against Arkansas Tech and one game against Drury (Mo.). UCO will still play those same games, however, the action will now take place on Wendell Simmons Field in Edmond.

The Bronchos will play ATU on Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday at 6 p.m., and then again Sunday at noon to close out the weekend. UCO will play Drury on Saturday at noon. Drury was visiting Tech and will play two games this weekend – against the Bronchos on Saturday and then again against Arkansas Tech following its game with UCO.

Central Oklahoma is 1-2 on the season after opening weekend. The Bronchos hosted the inaugural Edmond First Pitch Classic at Wendell Simmons Field and opened the season with 10-0 win over Southeastern Oklahoma. UCO then dropped a pair of tight games against Lubbock Christian and Oklahoma Christian.

UCO junior pitcher Dylan Hall, who started in Game 1 for the Bronchos, earned Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Pitcher of the Week for his opening day performance. Hall struck out 11 in a six-inning start, allowing no runs and only five hits and two walks.

Arkansas Tech is 3-1 on the season after opening weekend. The Wonder Boys went down to Houston, Texas and went 2-1 there before a quick trip to Jackson, Tenn. for a matchup with Union in which they won again. ATU has won three-straight after dropping its opener to Tarleton State in Houston.

Drury has not played a game yet.

"We're going to have to come ready to play this weekend," UCO head baseball coach John Martin said. "Tech is a really good team and playing at their place makes it a little tougher. But the guys will be ready. You want to play good teams and test yourself and I'm excited to see how they perform in this situation."
