UCO To Host Northwest Missouri For Three-Game MIAA Series

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team is set to continue conference play when the Bronchos host Northwest Missouri for a three-game series at Wendell Simmons Field beginning with Thursday's series-opener at 3 p.m.

The Bronchos and the Bearcats will also play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at noon. The series was originally scheduled to take place in Maryville, Mo., but was moved to Edmond due to inclement weather. UCO then moved there Friday-Saturday-Sunday series up due to its own weather issues in Edmond.

Central Oklahoma is 6-5 on the season and 0-3 in the MIAA. Northwest Missouri is 6-7 overall and 1-2 in league play.

UCO comes into the weekend with a team earned run average of 3.77. The Bronchos have struck out 119 through 11 games and opponents are hitting just .240 against UCO. Central is allowing just over four runs per game.

UCO enters the series averaging just over five runs per game. The Bronchos have scored 56 runs and are hitting .249 as a team. Central Oklahoma has 24 extra-base hits in 11 games, including seven home runs.

Philip Scott is the individual leader at the plate for the Bronchos. The junior infielder is hitting .421 through 11 games played. He's hit in six straight games for the Bronchos and has reached base in all 11 games this season. Scott has a team-high six doubles this season and has scored eight runs and driven in four.

Brice West (.387) and Kyle Crowl (.310) are also leaders at the plate for Central Oklahoma. The pair has two and three doubles each respectively and both have one home run. Paul Kropf, who is hitting .262 through 11 games played, has a team-high three homers and nine RBIs.

UCO is scheduled to play Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday, March 5 in Edmond before heading to Warrensburg, Mo. for another MIAA series with Central Missouri next weekend.
